Free time? That never happens :(

I can´t talk about an interesting hobby or favourite activity that I do in my free time, because I`m always studying or doing things on my house, but when I found some little time to rest, I lay on my bed an turn on my notebook to lose my time in the Internet surfing on the different social networks.

I know that this unproductive activity is replied for millions of young people, and is so funny to spends hours watching  videos on YouTube, talking online with my friends on Facebook, and to know about the last informations thanks to Twitter.

I use these social networks to communicate with other persons, to know about news and what is happening in the world, and this helps me like a student of journalism, because I need to be connected the whole time. A bad thing of this is that the internet and the different web pages consume me, and always is very hard to turn off the notebook and start to study and apply the things that I learned.

 

Also I love to write poetry, but this is something that I do when I have an inspiration, is not like I can decide when to write or not. Since I was very small I started to write, but I had not realized that what I wrote was poetry, just a few months ago I discover it.

So I can say that I`m a busy woman, who when have a little time, is writing her ideas, believes, or thoughts; or just spending her free time to learn more.

Favorite Gadget??? mmm....

First, I don’t even know what it means the word gadget, but I find out that this word is used to talk about any device that I can carry anywhere in my pocket. This is a new word, invented to explain an also new concept, born with the new technologies and needs.

So, know that I undersatnd  the concept, I can say that my favourite gadget is my mp4, a device which is made to hear music in any place where I go. I have a Sony model, with only 2 gb of capacity, but is enought for my travels to the college, that spends two hours of my day. I would love to have other mp4 for save more music, but is no my priority to spend money on that now, I have so  many  others cost associated to the university. I like my mp4 because makes my bus travels more fun, and I can focus on my readings, because I hate the external noise and this distracted me. I have this gadget since two years ago, a friend of mine sold me the mp4 on a cheap price.

I have different kinds of music on my mp4, the music that I listen depends of my emotional state, and it changes every day, so I have for this different folders of music. A song that always makes me feel good and relaxed, is “Segundo Movimiento”, of one of my favorites bands, “Extremoduro”, and I hear it when I`m sad or really stressed.

Rock rlz!!!

I love music. If there is something in the world that I love to do, is listen to music. I’m a big fan of classic rock , progressive rock, blues, jazz and other  sub-generes of music.

Some of my favorite bands are: Rush , Extremoduro, The doors, Led Zeppelin, Memphis la Blusera, and i love so much singers like Andrés Calamaro and Charly García.

Today I’m going to talk about Extremoduro, an Spanish band of “rock trangresivo”, like they themselves have defined his style. They start to play on 1987, and the only member that still is part of the group is “Robe” Iniesta, guitar and vocals, and also the mastermind behind the lyrics.

I know this band since two years ago, and the first song that I heard I didn`t like, because I`m wasn’t used to hear rock in Spanish language. But a time after, I heard other songs of this band on a party, and was in that moment where I love Extremoduro. They have a very particular style, they mix classic with progressive and hard rock, and also classic music, like in the disc La ley innata, which is my favorite CD ever. The lyrics are amazing, “Robe” is a poet and writter, and in all the lyrics you can find good poetry inside.  I recommend listening this rock band, they will not disappoint you.

A different digital newspaper

A website that I use to get information and I like so much for the way that shows the information and the news, and how it focus on this, It is “El Ciudadano”: a newspaper, that also have a web page, and is Chilean.

It is a website really serious, with a lot of news that others digital or written media didn`t even talk. The real information here is more important that sell, they are a digital newspaper with social sense. For to know about the things that happens in the world and in my country, I always read more than one newspaper or website, because I know that not everyone shows the information in a objective way, and there are so much differences amoung them.

I like the articles written by the journalist that works in “El Ciudadano”, they are so interesting, and always that I read them, I learn something new. I love the articles related to science and technology, environmental politics, culture and human rights. I like also the format of the webpage, which is serious but easy to consult, and when you visit the page you will not found annoying spam.

Time for movies!!!

About muy preferences on movies, I have to say that I love to see any film that makes me laugh and gives me a lot of fun, like "Pineapple express" or "Superbad". 

Sometimes also I watch movies with social content, that shows a part of the world unknow to me, with a good script and a so much work behind scene. One of my favorite film on this last category is "Requiem for a dream", that shows a reality about the drugs and differents kinds of adicctions, and how the human bean is not released to fall on it. When you start to consume a drug, is going to be so hard to get out of your addiction, even if you try to run away. The movie makes me to reflect deeply about the drugs, and on the people that have problems with it; about the inefficiency of the govermnet administration on this theme, and also how to find a effective solution to this huge problem, starting for my nearest environment.

About me and my class...

Hello!! My name is Francisca Jaque, I`m student of journalism in the Universidad de Chile, I live in Santiago, and my city is pretty fun, but sometimes is so stressful, but I`m used to the movement and noise that every moment is around me wherever I see. 
About my preferences I love to listen to music, especially progressive rock and classic rock, and I like so much to be with my friends talking or walking around the city, or in a party with the music that I like. I`m here studying because I want to become in a journalist, a good one, and I know that to achieve this goal is going to be so hard, but I won`t give up!!. 
I hope that this class be entertaining and productive, because i want to learn english, and have the posibility of use this language to talk with different persons, or comunicate in others situations on english.
